Bip Ling X ZALORA

Bip Ling is the quintessential cool girl from London who is currently taking the UK — and possibly the world — by storm. Don’t be fooled — the singer/model/DJ/blogger and entrepreneur stands at a petite 1.6m but she sure makes up for her height with energy and passion for everything ‘bippin’. From animated photos, flashing typography, manic GIFS, bathroom pics of the day and the appearance of her imaginary friend ‘Mooch’ who regularly features on her blog, Bip Ling sure is a woman on a mission.

A London IT girl who is on the front row of every show during London Fashion Week, Bipasha, better known as Bip, can always be spotted at the most sought-after parties, and has been working the scene long and hard to get to where she is today. Born in South London, Wimbledon she chose to express herself through a blog — bipling.com — back in 2009. Fast forward eight years, she is now one of the most recognised bloggers in the UK with just under 2 million blog hits, 26K Instagram followers and 16K Twitter followers. Her large following and respect within the fashion and art world has led Bip to shoot features for Vogue, Nylon, ELLE and Love magazines, as well as front campaigns for Forever 21 and Loewe.

Bip grew up surrounded by the fashion and art world — her Indian mother studied fashion at Central St Martins and is a household name within the fashion industry, and her British father is the owner of Fashion Illustrations Gallery in Mayfair, London. Her mother once said that “Every day is a style day, so why not wear something nice?” and what a great excuse it is to dress up! The support and respect for her family’s background is clear through everything she does, including the scarves that Bip designed to raise money for disadvantaged girls in India. Bip’s love and passion for the girls has led her to visit the school three times, and in turn sponsor seven girls, at a cost of SGD$400 to SGD$600 per student per year! Mooch (her pet cartoon emoji/blog/character) features heavily on the 100 per cent handmade and hand-printed silk scarves and bows. With SGD$2 from every sale going to the Piyali Learning Centre, it helps to give girls an education, free uniforms, meals and textbooks.

“You can tie the scarf on your bag, or wear the bow in your hair, and instantly an outfit is a bit more chic.”

Watch us spend the morning with fashion-savvy Bip Ling and tap into her uber-chic mind as we talk all things style, fashion and beauty and find out who ‘Mooch’ really is.
